The disease

Why it matters

Feline atopic skin syndrome is a chronic, relapsing pruritic disease that presents as self-induced hair loss, miliary dermatitis, eosinophilic lesions or intense itching of the head and neck. Long-term control relies on corticosteroids or immunosuppressants, which are difficult to sustain in cats over years.

Target and mechanism

What the vaccine does

In cats, as in dogs, chronic itch is sustained by a loop between sensory nerves, mast cells and inflammatory mediators. Xep04 applies the platform to that loop in feline skin, with an immunogen adapted to the cat.
